Stella Marie Stamile Fratesi


Stella Marie Stamile Fratesi, 97, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 09, at her residence in Piscataway. Born in Philadelphia, she lived in South Plainfield before moving to Piscataway. Mrs. Fratesi worked as a dressmaker in her early years, before becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed visiting friends at the senior citizens center in Piscataway and taking long walks which kept her in a joyful and happy spirit. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother who will be sadly missed.


She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Lawrence in 1972, three brothers, Thomas, Vincent J. and Antoine D. Stamile, two sisters, Mary Fratesi and Connie Cohen and one grandchild, Larry M. Fratesi.


She is survived by her two sons, Basil and wife, Margaret of Naples, FL and David Fratesi and Mary Ellen of Edison, two brothers, Peter H. of Piscataway and Donald of Toms River, six grandchildren, Maria, Laura, Tara, Danny, Valerie and Rebecca, 11 great-grandchildren, Amy, Kimberly, Anthony, Angelo, Bianca, Julia, Delaney, Chase, Cecilia, Daniel and Dana and four great-great grandchildren, Dominick, Joseph, Kenneth and Lucas.


Funeral services will begin Thursday, January 14 at 9:30 at the funeral home with a 10:00 funeral service at South Plainfield Funeral Home 2456 Plainfield Ave., followed by interment in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
