Maria Bertha Ruiz, 86 of South Plainfield passed away on Wednesday March 11, 2009 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Peru to the late Julio and Enriqueta Gallo, she resided there most of her life, obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Teaching. Mrs. Ruiz taught elementary school in Peru and after retirement she then moved to South Plainfield.
She was very active and dedicated person in community outreach in her home country of Peru and was a great "teacher of life".
Mrs. Ruiz was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Patricio who passed away 2 years ago. She is also predeceased by her sisters; Lila Gallo and Aurelia Gallo. Surviving are her sons, Patricio Roberto Ruiz, Julio Cesar Ruiz; her daughters, Carmela Orosia, Julia Amparo, Bertha Margarita, Enriqueta Iris and Ana Patricio; her 12 grandchildren, Katherine Betty, Victor Patrice, John Paul, Nicole Roxanne, Karim Paola, Monica Jeanette, Edward Velasquez, Omar Mohamad, Abiou-Allah Mohamad, Fatema Mohamad, Patrick John and Robert Michael and her 7 great grandchildren, Chloe, Amelia, James, Patricio, Jorge, Teddy and Angelica.
